This grand Victorian building used to be the home of a Literary and Scientific Institute. Today it offers comfortable accommodation within the Ironbridge Gorge World Heritage Site. With large communal spaces and fantastic facilities, it’s well suited to YHA Summer Camps and large groups of young people.

From Telford Centre or M54 follow the signs to Ironbridge. Pass through Ironbridge center (passing the bridge on your left) and turn right at the roundabout into Coalbrookdale (Dale Road). Continue half a mile up this road, then turn onto Paradise which will be on your right. This is a sharpish turning. The hostel is immediately on your left, just before the war memorial.
Surrounded by beautiful grounds, this hostel contains small dorm rooms which are all en-suite. YHA Ironbridge Coalbrookdale is a grade 2 listed building which was built by the Coalbrookdale Company in the 1850s – the hostel still has its original flooring!
Located in the Ironbridge Gorge World Heritage site, YHA Ironbridge Coalbrookdale is just one mile from the Iron Bridge itself which has made the Coalbrookdale district the foremost industrial area in the world. The area is full of industrial archaeology and family friendly museums.
Formerly the Literary and Scientific Institute, YHA Ironbridge Coalbrookdale has had a colourful past from hosting evacuees during World War 2 to hosting adult education courses before being converted to a Youth Hostel in 1980.
