Itford Farm, Beddingham, Lewes, East Sussex, BN8 6JS
Brand new to YHA in 2013, this refurbished Sussex farmhouse and barn building has undergone a £3 million renovation but has kept its original charm. There is a selection of comfortable dorm rooms in both buildings, social areas for indoor activities and a drying room for hanging muddy clothes – the campers might need it after they’ve been climbing and mountain biking!
Located on the idyllic South Downs Way, the hostel is set on a beautiful farmstead – campers may be lucky enough to get a peak inside the disused dairy farm! YHA South Downs stands in extensive grounds and is surrounded by the rolling hills of the South Downs National Park. The hostel is a stone’s throw away from Southease train station and is just 25 minutes by train from Brighton. This is also our closest summer camp location to central London.
Summer Camps at YHA South Downs
YHA South Downs was officially opened by Her Majesty the Queen in October 2013 and joined the YHA Summer Camps programme the year after in 2014. The hostel makes an excellent base for a fun-filled week of activities – you might have to persuade your camper to come home!
